For a Fun Day out with the Family visit the Animal Ark in Gt Witchingham. If you like animals, wildlife and the countryside you'll love the Animal Ark, it’s set in 20 acres of pretty parkland with conifer belts, ponds, mature trees and ornamental shrubs. You can walk by the side of the waterfowl lake or feed the pygmy goats in their pen. Our animals are all friendly and many like a gentle stroke or a kind word.
As well as cattle, goats, pigs, sheep and ponies we have donkeys, llamas, wallabies, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas, ferrets, rats, and a variety of parakeets, finches, pheasants, chickens, turkeys and waterfowl. There's an abundance of natural wildlife and we even have our own Heron Colony.
There's lots of adventure play with something for all ages including slides, swings, towers, sandpit, go karts, climbing wall and 50 metre zip wire. There’s adventure play for tiny tots too and a small indoor play area for the under 7’s.
Visit the Pets Pavilion to see all our small animals, it’s open all day but at allocated times our Keeper hosts special sessions when you can touch, hold and learn all about our animals, their care and welfare. Have you ever held a rat or a ferret? Well now's your chance!
Jack the Giant Bunny and lots of other animal characters are looking forward to greeting you there......check on the day of your visit for Keeper talk times.
On Summer Sundays you can also see meerkats, otters, racoon and reptiles, (including Samson the giant tortoise), creepy insects and other unusual critters.
Our cosy cafe serves hot and cold meals with healthy options for both adults and children. Alternatively bring a picnic and eat alfresco on the terrace or one of the picnic areas. Don't miss the gift shop for toys and great gift ideas!
